General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS) Repeaters

I have 2 GMRS repeaters that are operational. Both use community tone panels and each user (licensee) is assigned a specific tone. The repeater is shared among all users and must be monitored before using with your radio in carrier squelch (CS) mode. Most of the time this is done by removing the mic from the hangup bracket on a mobile radio or pushing the MON button in for a few seconds on a handheld or mobile radio.

Users that operate without permission are not welcome.

My wide area coverage repeater is located on Little Bald Mountain and coverage extends over several counties in East TN. I81 from I40 to up past Abingdon VA is covered. Coverage past Johnson City on I26 going toward Asheville is spotty and there is some coverage over in the Asheville NC area.

The local Greeneville area coverage repeater is on West Barton’s Ridge Road in Greeneville. This repeater gives excellent portable coverage over most of Greeneville. There is also coverage out into Greene County but it covers South of Greeneville much better than the repeater located on Camp Creek Bald. This repeater does have coverage from around Exit 8 to above exit 36 on I81.

I charge $50 per year as an access fee to help cover the cost of operating the repeaters. You must have a GMRS license and agree to abide by our rules to use it.  Anyone that uses the repeater without permission is guilty of “Theft of Services” and can be prosecuted.
