Messenger One and Two Picture Gallery

2021 Shelby Hamfest Vender Table – Most were missing microphones and all were missing power cords. Prices started at $15 and went up. No, I did not purchase any of them.

These are pictures of a Messenger One that I have not converted to 10 meters.  It was a very clean radio inside and only the outside was encrusted with years of grime.  The smaller HC49 style crystals used in the Walkie Talkies work in place of the HC6 crystals and bad HC6 crystals provide a base that they can be soldered to and then plugged into the radio.

Messenger One with hard to find cover over the crystal bank. I think most of these were discarded when crystals were added. PANKEY OIL CO Brookfield MO is where this one came from. Its a 6 volt/110 volt version, the only one in my collection.
The underneath of the Messenger One with new capacitors installed. C33 has not had individual replacements installed and appears to still be good at this time.
C56 replaced with a radial style 100 uf on top of the chassis. The 6 volt vibrator was missing from this One when it came to me. You can also see someone’s earlier mod of using a 9 pin plug and mounting silicon diodes on it that replaced the 6BW4 rectifier tube. This radio is also using a 12BY7A as the oscillator tube.

This is a picture of the Johnson Messenger metal microphone hanger.  Its nothing more than a piece of steel wire bent in the shape above.
